Philosophy
Substance use disorder is a primary, progressive, chronic and often fatal disease, with identifiable symptoms and progression of severity. It cannot be cured, but it can be arrested. It is a disease, along with pathological gambling, which affects all aspects of an individual’s life: physical, social, psychological and spiritual. Recovery is best when all significant others are included in the intervention and recovery process.
It is the philosophy of Kiamichi Council that the goal of treatment is self healing through self discovery and self acceptance. In order to empower the persons served, the persons served must have informed consent and be an active participant in all phases of services/treatment. Recovery treatment success is best when all significant others are include in the intervention process.
